Basingstoke Bluefins Masters

In 2017, the Bluefins Relay team set 2 European and 6 British records and also claimed a World bronze medal along with placing World 4th. The team won all National titles, Hampshire titles and a full win on all events entered. They were Hampshire County Champions for the 8th consecutive year, winning over 70 county titles with 5 swimmers being selected to represent Hampshire at Inter-Counties where Hampshire also won the regional event. At the World Masters Championship they had 7 individual top 8 finishes and 2 relay top 4 finishes as well as setting lots of lifetime bests across all age groups and disciplines.

Basingstoke Hockey Club Ladies 1st XI (Senior Team)

The team secured promotion from South Div 2 to South Div 1. Two of the team represented Hampshire at youth level, and two other squad members were selected to represent South of England at the England Hockey inter-regional Masters (Over 40s). One of the team is a Level 2 coach and lead coach at local Junior Development Centre sessions. First team members organise Basingstoke’s team in the local Ladies Summer Hockey league and three first team members give up their Saturday mornings 8-9am to coach the U8/10 ‘minis’ at Down Grange before preparing for their games.

Basingstoke Kickboxing Organisation

BKO doubled the amount of competitors from the club and now have 4 members on the GB squad and two more invited to join in 2018. The club also wanted to be more of a presence on the international circuit and attended four European tournaments gaining Gold, silver and bronze placings. It was also a goal to connect more with other clubs and competitors within the sport in order to learn and share ideas. BKO held 3 seminars with top martial artists and also ran sparring master classes where other clubs from the UK attended and ideas and practices were shared with them.

Basingstoke School of Martial Arts (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu)

The team won multiple medals at the British, English and European championships and are competing with, and beating, much more established teams. They also placed 3rd at the Bournemouth Open and won 100s of medals in small local competitions. The team consists of a hard-core group of adults that compete and win a lot on the circuit. They set a good example with their correct attitude and are putting Basingstoke on the map with their sport.

Basingstoke RFC Ladies (Rugby)

In 2017 Basingstoke RFC Ladies gained promotion into the National League structure and grew their squad to over 35 members, with over 30 players regularly attending sessions on Monday and Wednesdays. The team won the England RFU Touch Competition in Maidenhead and five players graduated from Club u18 girls into the senior section. The team is exceeding all expectations and will be putting out two teams in the National Leagues. Three players have County Honours and a further three will gain honours in January.

Basingstoke Wolverines (Queens Cheerleading)

Queens won 1st place and International Champions at Future Cheer Internationals which is Europe’s largest cheerleading event. They also won Battle of the Champions at International Cheerleading Coalition along with a top three placing in all National/International competitions entered in 2017. Every team member worked exceptionally hard to max out their level 2 tumble and Queens finished the season with nearly a full team of tumblers.

Su-Ha-Ri Karate School

The team competed tirelessly all year and competed in 14 competitions, National and International, with great results. At the World Championships the club team got more golds that most of the countries and a team member was selected for the All Styles National Team and the WKF All Styles World Championship. Team bonding grew throughout the year with many compliments for being as gracious in defeat as they are in winning.
